OMG, how weird! I got the SAME note yesterday! Plus, Tom brought home his blanket from naptime to be washed, and he told me that they'd all had their heads checked. I did spend a happy evening walking over to Hadleigh (9) and saying loudly, "Oh noes! There's something in your hair!" just to watch her screech.
Seriously though, I hope that neither your family nor mine has to go through the dreaded nits!
What is going on with the lice in the blogosphere?
Don't panic. We had a similar notice weeks ago and, despite my psychosomatic head itching, nothing came of it. It's harder to catch lice than you think.
OK...I know it's contagious. But in blogosphere?! We got the same note on Friday. Well, except it was in Norwegian. What's going on?! Have been vigorously washing hair and checking scalps all weekend. So far so good. Eek. - Heidi
Of course those notes suck! Wanna know what sucks more??? My son coming home with lice and us finding out that a cute little LICE INFECTED girl was being checked out in the nurses office on the same day he left school sick. Wanna know how we found that out?? NOT FROM THE SCHOOL. His grandpa picked him up and mentioned it to his dad. Yea... at least you guys got notified.
Confession: I totally had head lice in the second grade. I got it from my best friend Stacy who later moved to Minnesota. It was an epidemic. Half our class was out. Here's to hoping you avoid the boiling and the hot-temperature laundering and multiple shampoos...
The note I've been dreading since my 3 year old went into daycare...and the one my husband says will never show up. I hope he's right, but know he's not.
Onward (in a bug-free zone).
P.S. I didn't drop off the face of the earth, just the cyber earth...but still read and enjoy your blog when I have time.

Strikes fear in the hearts of moms!
ack. hope you manage to avoid this. Got a similar note about hand foot and mouth disease recently. So far, so good!
Dude. That is so not cool. I so feel your pain.

ACK.
Jenn over at Breed 'em and Weep is going through the same thing.
Shudder.
Ugh. And I don't care what some researchers are saying about NOT treating it; I would be treating every possible surface in the house. So gross.
Oh crap.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not the bugs!
So, so glad I haven't had to deal with this yet.
Gah.

Dear Lord in Heaven,
I pray that I never again see another piece of paper such as this.
Amen,
Melissa
(and P.S., Please strike down the evil lice that have invaded the family of our Rima. Amen.)
Ugh. I hope never to see one of those in the flesh. Good luck.
YIKES!!! How horrible to get that note!
heh. heh. Notice me nervously itching my scalp in fear over here... Crossing my fingers for ya.
