I Done Gave 'Em the Genius Gene

The little J-dog had his two year wellness checkup at the peds office this morning.

All is well, and no attempts were made to punch out windows or escape this time.

Progress.

Upon entering the exam room, Dr. W immediately noted the J-dog's verbal aptitude as he, perched safely in my lap, sounded out all of the letters on her wall posters.

Naturally, I took this as a prompt to launch into my cache of J-dog genius stories.

"He totally spelled, "stop" the other day, Dr. W, except backwards! We were in the car and the J-dog saw a Stop sign and he was like, "P-O-T-S! Pots! Can you freakin' believe it????"

Dr. W was duly impressed. "That reminds me of an eight month old I saw once whose mother insisted that she was actually pronouncing real words," she said. "And sure enough, when I set my desk clock down in front of the baby, she said, clear as the nose on my face, 'tick-tock.' It was truly astounding."

What Dr. W didn't recall, my friends, is that the mom WAS ME, and the baby was none other than my very own little V-meister.

My kids are clearly jeanuses genyuhsiz geniuses, and the V-meister is a pediatric legend in her own time.

I hope you told him that it was your child she was bragging on!

In case you didn’t know, I found your blog through DadGoneMad. I've posted a complete list of everyone who left their blog link on his Big Big Stars post a while back in a post of my own in April called Blog Rolling With My Homies over on my blog, so if you want to see it come on over and sit a spell. I don't bite..…that hard anyway! If you did know just overlook this since my brain feels like mush from trying to comment on all 217 on the list because I was challenged to it by a couple of guys from the list!!

Amazing! And too funny he used your other kid as his example. My daughter was like that. She was saying words at 8 months. At a year she could name all her animals. Not just zoo either. Also jungle.

I hope you took video of her saying "tick tock" at eight months. That is REALLY impressive.

That's great. I hope he's not like Rain Man or anything. It is amazing for a boy to be so verbal at an early age.

My daughter was saying words at 3 months. Granted they were momma and dadda, but 3 months impressed me.

So tell the secret of how he learned so quickly.

Wow! That's crazy about little V-meister. Did she go on to talk at a young age as well?

P-Dawg = too cute and way too smart for his own good.

Ya'll are in trouble!

Um, Charlie knows where his tummy is. But he can't spell. That's totally awesome!

Um, I should probably clarify that the little J-dog isn't really so much a talker as one who is obsessed with letters. He DID spell and pronounce "Pots," but this is by no means an every day occurrence. He's still a total genius, though.

Talk about impressive.

Sheesh...did you catch that tick tock on tape or video??

They should have had a tv show a couple of years back - Are you smarter than a newborn? - and had little V-meister on there. She'd kick some booty.

That is too awesome. He cites a story of child genius and it is your kid!

But of course your children are geniuses, look who they have for a mom!

I am impressed spelling at that age and talking at 8 months, geez, now I think my kids are drooling idiots. Heh!!!!

I believe the plural of genius is geni.

You're welcome.

Whoa! That IS amazing.

My 21 month old is barely saying words. Dang...I'll have to feed that kid more fish!

Well, Janet made me scratch my head. So I had to go look it up, and this is what dictionary.com says:

gen·ius
–noun, plural gen·ius·es for 2, 3, 8, gen·i·i for 6, 7, 9.

To which I say, "Huh."

So, yes, I think your kids are geniuses. Or maybe genii.

In my opinion, it must take a genius to keep it all straight. And I'd say your kids can handle it.

Dude. But of course. How could either one of them not be a GENUS. Err I mean a GENIUS.

Seriously, that IS impressive!

Don't they just give you fuzzy-wuzzies sometimes? Makes all the not so nice bits worthwhile.

This genius gene, where do you think they got it? Of course, from you!

And I meant to say below that I'm sorry you didn't get the house. I really believe that the right one will show itself. Someday.

What brilliant children!

Hate to spoil the party, but the Matron's first TWO children spoke at 8 months, as well - and both walked at 9. They peaked early as it's been all downhill from there.

Please move in and take care of my children! LOL With a 2.5 year old who is now just starting to talk and a 14 month old who just smiles at you, I obviously need some help

Don't we all think that our own children are brilliant! jokes aside they sound quite cute and pretty brilliant, you must be proud.

I'm all impressed with the incorrect noun declension!

All I can say is Watch! Out! And find you some mental health insurance, because, dang.

Then again, my son's pediatric legend story isn't so much about his smarts. At 2 months old he was so pissed off the doc was messing with him that he reached up and snatched her glasses off of her face. I swear it wasn't an accident.

So perhaps your road to genius will be smoother than mine. heh
