Foiled

We had some really strong winds come through here last night and I couldn't sleep because I had to keep a tree from falling on our house through the sheer strength of my will.

The way it works is that by staying up and fretting, I create a force field around the periphery of our dwelling with my nervous energy and thus prevent harm from coming our way. But! If I let my guard down, all bets are off.

Unable to concentrate on reading or watching TV, I got up and padded around the house in my waffle weave nightgown with the tiny rosebuds, stopping in front of each window to assess its proximity to danger. Then I woke up the P-Dawg to tell him I was pretty sure we were doomed. I had a vision of a tree crashing through our son's bedroom window and did he suppose there was anything that could be done about that?

The P-Dawg didn't think there was any danger of that happening, but he did think I should go back to sleep and allow him to do the same.

Which I did, eventually.

This morning over coffee, P-Dawg commented on the enormous tree branch that had been blown from the oak directly in front of our bedroom window. Hadn't I heard it snapping in the night?

As a matter of fact, I hadn't. Because I was fast asleep WITH MY VIGILANCE SHIELD DOWN.

Damn.

MUST. STAY. VIGILENT!
I do the same thing. Thank God you didn't wake up when the branch snapped or you would have remained awake for the remainder of the night.
Glad it all turned out well. :)

In this, we could be twins, you and I. Am so freakin' tired today from listening to the wind last night.

LOL. Just think of what could have happened if you'd fallen asleep sooner!

That was some serious wind you guys got, read about it in the news.
Love your force field thing, wish I had it. Can't seem to stop the roof from leaking when it rains. Drat!

Ha! Asleep at the wheel there Rima! Too funny.

Without the force field valiantly in place earlier, it would have been a TOTAL disaster. Definitely.

Damn. But there must have been some residual force field, as it didn't crash through the window.

We have massive trees next to the house and it FREAKS ME OUT.

But, nothing gets between me and sleep.

So, we're doomed.

I let my guard down one time and a tree hit the house. Never again! Now when the wind blows I am right there watching for danger. heh! Glad there was no damage.

Could you train me to create a force field around food I really shouldn't eat? So that no matter how hard I ty, my hand just won't break that bubble around it?
